Couch to 5K
What is Couch to 5k, Couch to 5K is the best way to start your running. As it eases you in to running. This is normally done in small groups to help each other along your journey but can be done on a 1-2-1 basis as well.
Couch to 5K
Couch to 5K all starts off really slowly, so you can build up as the weeks progress and by the end of the training plan you will be able run for 30 minutes constantly.
This is a tried and tested method, you do three runs a week for nine weeks.
Here is a taster of the first two weeks
Week 1 - 5 Mins warm up, 60 secs run with a 90 secs walk 7 times followed by a 60 secs run and 5 mins cool down. x3 runs
Week 2 - 5 Mins warm up, 90 secs run with a 2 mins walk 5 times followed by a 90 secs run and 5 mins cool down. x3 runs
This program follows the NHS couch to 5k plan, that has been used to get lots of people active.
With Coach to 5K you need to do your 3 runs each week, and key is not skip your homework as its called. As without doing your 3 runs each week you will struggle as the weeks progress. The first few weeks my seem to some to be easy but it gets your body and mind ready for the weeks to follow, I have had many people after they have done this training be amazed just how well this works and are constantly running for 30 mins.
